The Associated Press seeks an Intelligence Reporter for its Washington, D.C. location.

This newsperson develops and maintains sources in the intelligence community including officials working for the U.S. Director of National Intelligence, CIA, FBI, Congress, Pentagon, Homeland Security Department, National Security Council, State Department and Energy Department. Sources must extend far beyond public relations staff. This newsperson reports and writes high-impact enterprise and breaking news stories based on U.S. and international intelligence, with a special focus on terrorism and counter-terrorism. Under general supervision, responsible for a broad range of moderately complex process and product related activities supporting internal operations and supplier qualifications. Travel is required to various CONUS and off-CONUS locations to participate in the T-AKE ships during post-delivery availabilities. 
 
Qualifications 
 
Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 6 years experience in ship design/construction.  They must have the ability to coordinate with various groups and individuals with strong communication and interpersonal skills to oversee and accomplish shipboard inspections, compartment close-outs, witness testing, production call-outs, and the resolution of Guarantee Deficiency Report's (GDR's).  Familiarity with the Deficiency Tracking System (DTS) is a plus but not required.

In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 10 years applicable work experience.

The applicant should have a strong orientation and a proven track record in the use of statistical techniques to characterize, prioritize, monitor and improve performance using the principles, practices, and procedures used in quality engineering.. They should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
