Blood and plasma may be the greatest gift of the “Greatest Generation”-their life’s blood given back at home for the wounded on the fighting front. They sent more than a million pints to war! And we will never know how many men and women walk the world today – or will do so in generations to come – because the life of a father or grandfather was saved by one of those gifts of a blood donor during World War II.
A radio show called Life to the Front, broadcast weekly over WEEI, the Columbia Broadcasting System’s New England network outlet in Boston, helped keep alive the connection between the home front and the fighting fronts.
Each week the broadcast was dedicated “To all the men of the armed forces of the United States… who – on every fighting front in the world – daily risk their lives in the service of their country……that they might live.”
Out for Blood includes first-hand accounts of actual participants in some of the war’s toughest battles, and features actual scripts from Life to the Front.

Description of Duties:
- Develop Program Protection Plans (PPP) for emerging strategic and tactical communications satellite programs to effectively assist the Government in delivery and sustainment of warfighting capabilities in support of the Air Force’s Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC). These duties include:
- Develop/review and update consolidated Counterintelligence Support Plans (CISP), Integrated Threat Assessments (ITA), Operations Security Plans, System Threat and Analysis Reports (STAR), Anti-Tamper Plans (ATP), Security Classification Guides (SCG), Technology Assessment and Control Plans (TA/CP) and System Security Engineering Management Plans (SSEMP)
- Evaluate acquisition documents for compliance with Critical Program Information (CPI) and Critical Components (CC) protection requirements in accordance with the PPP and provide a detailed written assessment
- Conduct contractor site visits to evaluate the design, implementation and verification of system security provisions and evaluate internal, public, foreign, classified, and unclassified requests for information in accordance with the SCG and PPP
- Facilitate the program office System Security Working Group (SSWG) meetings
- Conduct Criticality Analysis (CA) to determine the Critical Functions and Critical Components (CC) of mission systems and develop/identify risk mitigations to the components based upon identified deficiencies and Threat Assessments
- Review evolving security and protection concepts and policies and provide a report on the impacts to current acquisition documents PPPs, SCGs, ATPs, STARs, ITAs, CAs, CCs and TA/CPs
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ Degree (Master’s preferred) in a related field such as Engineering, Management, Business or Computer Science
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in acquisition and management of National Security Space (NSS) programs with at least five of those years in an information assurance or cybersecurity environment
- Broad knowledge of SMC organizational missions and acquisition management, program management, contracting, budget/finance/cost estimation principles and methodologies. Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity instructions, policies and guidelines; logistics; systems security engineering and operational support planning
- Proficient in the standard Microsoft Office toolset, including MS Project, schedule assessment tools, acquisition strategy planning and documentation
- US Citizenship with an active DoD TS/SCI Government clearance (Applicants selected will be subject to a Government investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to retain a DoD TS/SCI Government clearance)

Description of Duties:
- Provide financial management support to the services division within the Business and Enterprise Services Directorate (AFLCMC/HIC) by supporting the development and implementation of multiple commodity acquisitions within the Air Force Enterprise Services Program.

On-site position to serve as an Action Officer for a major Marine Corps Wargaming program. Support government Program Officer by conducting various staff actions. Staff actions include managing program schedules, coordinating with Services and government agencies, attending meetings, developing and delivering program briefs, and planning, preparing, and executing war game conferences/workshops. Serves as day-to-day interface to the government customer. Assists customer with development and articulation of program goals/objectives. Able to handle day-to-day tasks and requirements in support of multiple and simultaneous wargame projects. Serves as support staff coordinator during the execution of a game/exercise and orchestrates large support staff.
Responsible for program analytic tasks that include: analysis and synthesis of game results, structuring and authorship of small and large analytic reports, and coordination of post-game products. Also, assists in the design and production of wargame and scenario products to include: wargame methodology, wargame taskers, road to war, orders of battle, friendly and enemy assessments, political guidance, contingency plans.
The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, assertive and inquisitive individual who can exercise initiative and takes pride in and ownership of their assigned program. Individual should have the ability to quickly transition from small detail execution to larger-picture thinking, possess a strong background in defense and strategic issues; and able to perform in high-paced, multi-tasking office environments.

10.) Trainers, Global Center for Journalism and Democracy (GCJD) at Sam Houston State University, Houston, Texas (training to take place in Lebanon)
The Global Center for Journalism and Democracy (GCJD) at Sam Houston State University is partnering with the Samir Kassir Skeys Center for Media and Cultural Freedom (SKF) in Beirut, Lebanon to develop a workshop for journalists and Lebanese security institutions to better work together. This project is funded in part by the Thomson Foundation through the Lebanon Freedom of Expression grant.
In general, our training workshops consist of individual sessions and/or panel discussions. Session topics are developed in conjunction with our trainers, based on their specific areas of expertise. Should you determine you are available to work with us, we would collaborate closely with you to develop your session(s). Typically, session lengths are between 60-90 minutes, and should include activities that will allow the participants to put the theories/ideas you present into practice.
The training dates are January 23, 24, & 25, 2015, in Beirut, Lebanon.
Typically, we expect our trainers to attend all the sessions they are not presenting at in order to add their expertise as a participant. This training is scheduled to take in the following format:
Day 1: Training representatives from Lebanese security sector institutions: A- Hearing from them about how they communicate to the media. B- Showing them examples of how foreign security institutions communicate. C- Debate with Lebanese journalists on how the communication can improve, based on what they would’ve learnt during the day.
Day 2: Training Lebanese journalists. A- Collective evaluation of press clippings from Lebanese media focusing on the coverage of the sector (based on the media monitoring report we’re developing with Maharat). B- Introduction to terminology, legal and technical issues (by a Lebanese trainer). C- Hearing from foreign reporters/trainers on how they cover the sector. D- A writing exercise based on case studies presented by trainers.
Day 3: Continued training. A- Planning a story (who to talk to, how to deal with official press releases, how to fact-check…). B- Reporting on live development (demonstrations, police operations, army operations, including use of social media for reporting and fact-checking). C- Closing panel debate on reporting on security institutions in politically/religiously/ethnically divided societies.
GCJD covers all travel, lodging, and meal expenses for our trainers, and provides a $500 stipend for each day of training ($1500 total, maximum). On the ground in Beirut, the Samir Kassir Foundation provides transportation logistics, and vets all lodging and support personnel to ensure the highest level of security.
Once we have a verbal agreement of your participation, our office draws up a consultant contract outlining the specific deliverables expected by both parties.

AECOM is currently seeking an unexploded ordnance (UXO) Technician II for construction support, avoidance, and/or clearance activities.
Candidates should be a graduate of a Military EOD School of the United States and have two years or more prior military EOD and/or commercial UXO experience in response munitions response actions or range clearance activities OR a graduate of a formal UXO training course of instruction (as defined in the Department of Defense Explosives Safety Board (DDESB) TP 18 chapter 3 with three years documented experience in response munitions response actions or range clearance activities, as appropriate for the contracted operation, plus specific project/explosives safety training.
In addition to being able to fully perform all of the UXOSP and UXO TECH I functions above, UXO TECH II personnel may:
- Properly store explosive materials per applicable guidance.
- Determine precise location in field environment using a variety of techniques such as use of global positioning equipment, or basic land navigation techniques using topographical map and compass.
- Perform field collection procedures to identify contaminated soil
- Prepare an on-site holding area to temporarily stow MEC that has an acceptable risk of movement.
- Operate modes of transportation for transporting UXO, for which the risk of movement has been determined acceptable, when appropriate.
- Perform limited technical supervision of UXOSP.
- Escort personnel who are not directly involved in UXO-related operations (e.g., personnel performing environmental monitoring), but have activities to perform within exclusion areas.
- Inspect MPPEH for the presence of explosives safety hazards.
